Le Levron, Verbier local area information



The chalet is located in the small village of Levron, a short distance from the world famous ski resort of Verbier. You can get to the cable car at Le Chable in 15 minutes by car from the chalet. Le Chable is situated in the valley below Verbier. One of the benefits of getting onto the cable car at Le Chable is that you avoid the long queues at Verbier!


Verbier is a world-class resort with something to please everyone. The town is situated on a sun drenched plateau at 1500 metres and has enviable snow and sun records. Verbier has some of the most challenging runs in Europe with the slopes of Tortin, Gentianes and Mont Fort to test the most experienced skier and boarder. For the intermediate skier there are the gentler picturesque tree lined slopes of La Tzoumaz and Nendaz. And beginners are well catered for with the convenient resort based slopes of Les Esserts, Le Bleu and Le Rouge. For the adventurous why not hire a mountain guide and the terrain available becomes limitless.


Verbier is part of the skiing area in the 4 Vallees and offers over 410 km of runs for all levels and 92 ski-lift installations, which can all be used with a single ski-pass. The highest point of the area is the summit of the Mont Fort glacier, at 3,330 metres, and it offers ideal skiing conditions from the beginning to the end of the season. Snow machines complement the natural snowfall and ensure good conditions on the runs.



Don’t ski? Don’t worry, Verbier has a lot to offer the non-skier. There are many spectacular locations that can be reached on the lift system, including restaurants. There are beautiful mountain walks and cross country skiing. At the Sports Centre there is ice-skating, squash, swimming, jacuzzi and sauna. Throughout the year there are numerous concerts and exhibitions and a regular showing of English films at the cinema. Shopping in Verbier is justifiably famous as one of the most outstanding ski areas in Europe. It lies high in a sunny, well-sheltered position in the heart of Switzerland’s southern-most Alps with views of Mont Blanc to the west and the Matterhorn to the east.


In summer the area brings a countryside rich in beauty and colour. The mountain ranges provide a perfect location with 250 miles of walking trails and mountain bike tracks. There are two golf courses at an altitude of 1500 meters – and not far away is the famous Swiss Open championship course at Crans Montana which has three courses.Outdoor tennis courts along with an outdoor heated swimming pool make summer in Verbier a perfect location to relax and enjoy your holiday in beautiful surroundings. For extreme sports enthusiasts there is river rafting available.


More famous for its winter season, the area has kept its summer potential
a secret. In fact, the opportunities to enjoy the outdoors in the summer are great, and the atmosphere in the resort is fun and relaxed. Verbier’s summer climate is perfect for outdoor activities, with Mediterranean daytime temperatures, long daylight hours and fresh alpine air.


Verbier is very biker friendly - not surprising since the town is the
starting point of the legendary Grand Raid Cristalp, and also the venue for
stages of the Tour de Swiss and the Swiss downhill championships. As well as
four bike shops, the town has a wide variety of shops and boutiques selling
everything from ski, snowboard and outdoor gear, to designer fashions and
traditional Swiss gifts and souvenirs.
